Lessons of London 2012
I love the Olympics because it is such a great motivation for me. There are so many life lessons that everyone can learn just by watching the Olympics.
Oscar Pistorius aka The Blade Runner:
Often times I blame my failures because I lack something. I am terrible in volleyball because I’m not tall enough, I am bad at soccer because I’m not big enough, I am bad in school because I’m not smart enough.
Mr. Oscar Pistorius reminds us that all we really need to succeed in life is hard work and determination. Double amputee and want to be an Olympic caliber sprinter? No problem. That is absolutely Incredible.
Athletes of less wealthy countries:

For many athletes representing countries that are not financially wealthy like the United States, the Olympics is one of the few opportunities for athletes to escape their financial hardship. The recent report that seven athletes from Cameron left the Olympic village in search for jobs is an indication of their struggles at home.
These athletes compete for survival and a better future for themselves and their family, not fame nor fortune.

Eric Moussambani
Maybe some of you still remembers Eric from the Sydney Olympics. Eric participated the 100m freestyle(he learned how to swim three months before the start of the Olympics in a hotel swimming pool). He has never seen a 50 meter pool until his arrival at Sydney.
One can only imagine the amount of courage that Eric must have. Just knowing the fact that you don’t stand a chance in this international arena of competition. Furthermore, your failure will be seen by people all over the world and recorded for all to see.
I can’t imagine anyone that is this courageous.
There are plenty more lessons to be learn by Olympians of the past, present, and future. They show us the meaning of courage, sacrifice, and integrity through sports.
All of a sudden my problems doesn’t seem that impossible anymore.
Stay cool! Wear a hat!
More people should wear hats, especially during the summer. Most people believe throwing on a pair of sunglasses is adequate protection from the sun’s harmful rays, others are smarter and apply sun block, despite their efforts, most of them look like this after a day in the sun.
Kim Kardashian not looking her best. (Sorry Kim)
Situations Like this can easily be avoided by wearing a hat. They are fashionable, fun, and most of all shows confidence in a sea of non hat wearers. A quick search on Google and you will celebrities wearing hats of all shapes and sizes like this:
Aside from avoiding a burnt face and looking good, there are plenty of other reasons why wearing hats are good for you. One of the most important ones is to keep yourself cool. Having shade for your face dramatically cools you because you are no longer under direct sunlight (Same logic why you hide under a tree on a hot summer day.) As a result, the likelihood of you sweating and feeling dirty and smelly dramatically lowers as well.
In short, whether it’s a simple baseball hat or a wide brim straw hat, having a hat on your head shows confidence, style, and most importantly intelligence that you are protecting your body. So before you head out , use sunblock, sunglasses, and don’t forget your hat. Stay Cool!
Or you may look like Kim and these people in the future:
Hats in the Wild
I was recently looking through fashion magazines and noticed they feature some of our hats.
The two hats are the Floopy Wool hat and the wide brim straw summer hat.
Why wearing hats is awesome
Because my hair looks awful today! Just kidding. It looks fabulous. Kidding, again. Remember in middle or high school when teachers reprimanded or scolded us for wearing hats inside classrooms? Besides implying that it was a rude gesture to an academic professional, it was a form of expression that presented a distraction. My point being is that hats are strong symbols of an individual’s insights, personality, and opinion. Whether or not we realize it, hats play an important role in capturing our emotions and different moments of our lives.
Hats are a form of expression without the need to verbally communicate with another. It is an art form that captures a person’s unique personality. It can distinguish an individual from another or bring together a group of individuals that find common interests. Putting on a hat, taking off a hat, and changing hats are all gestures that are carried out on various stages of our daily lives. A person wears a hat to take on different roles, change image or style, and perhaps even ideas.
In every culture, a hat carries on a different meaning that embraces the dynamic roles of humanity. For instance, in our American culture, boonie hats are considered a necessity when participating in events such as fishing, gaming, and hunting. It characterizes the individual as an adventurous types that seeks refuge with nature. Baseball caps are another huge hat form dominating our American culture. From an athlete’s perspective, a baseball cap is a requirement to protect the player’s eyes from the sun in order to focus on his perfect pitch. There are a majority of people who wear baseball caps to represent their favorite sports, interests, and so on. It serves as a subtle billboard of an individual’s core interests. Meanwhile in South America, panama hats or “straw hats” are significantly worn by the privileged or travelers. A panama hat was acknowledged as a luxurious accessory because of the dedication, hard work, and tradition instilled in the woven process. Now, it still carries on the traditional value, but it is more attainable to any individual of all social status and culture.
So, why wear a hat? Wear a hat because you feel adventurous, joyful, or inspired. Try on a hat because you feel like carrying your family tradition with you to the grocery store. Let others know that you are a thoughtful person who values quality and culture with a straw hat. Just make sure you comb your tangled hair underneath. I jest, of course. Our team is still in the process of expanding its design and style, so come join us on our adventure of creating inspiration and instilling tradition.
